About Us

Charles Fice, established in 1998, is a legal firm which specializes in civil litigation, insolvency and general commercial work. The firm's principal is Chris Charles.

Chris Charles B.Com, LLB, M.B.A.

Chris has practised for 44 years, mainly as a commercial litigator and insolvency lawyer. He has experience in all the Federal and Victorian State Courts and Tribunals acting in a wide range of commercial and insolvency disputes under the general law and the laws relating to corporations, bankruptcy, employment, trade practices, insurance, banking and intellectual property, in particular. He drafted the plain English style documentation used over the last six years by Charles Fice, banks and insurance companies to provide integrated insurance, banking and litigation services to liquidators around Australia. Without this product liquidators would not have had the means to pursue meritorious claims in the Courts for the benefit of creditors.

Major clients include financial institutions, insurance companies, diverse companies and firms, liquidators, bankruptcy trustees and, of course, private individuals.

It is often said of Chris that in litigation matters he pursues his clients' interests as single mindedly and aggressively as any practitioner, for which he makes no apologies.

Before he immigrated to Australia in 1986, Chris was a partner in the Hong Kong office of the world wide law firm, Baker and Mc.Kenzie. He has also been a partner of Baker & Mc.Kenzie and Phillips Fox in Melbourne. He was admitted, and practised, as a solicitor in South Africa, England and Hong Kong.
